Joyfest is a celebration of smiles and brightened days*, initiated by the church in Exeter

*(and generosity, kindness, help, laughter, fun, hope and joy)

What is Joyfest?

Joyfest is a simple idea - can the church spend a week doing acts of kindness to make the city a happier place?

We’re not sure, but we thought we’d give it a go.

Why Joy?

Joy is something deeper than happiness - it’s a feeling of overflowing hope that doesn’t come from our circumstances.

As Christians, we believe the source of joy is in God, who is interested in us and passionately loves us.

You don’t need to agree with us, but we hope whatever small deed was done to you has helped you feel a bit of joy, in the midst of a life that can, at times, be incredibly tough.

“I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!”

Try Church” Sunday

Sunday 7th June

If you’ve ever been curious about what church is like, then on Sunday 7th June loads of churches in the city are doing “Try Church” Sunday.

It’s like an open-day for churches. You’re really welcome to come - sit and observe or join in as much as you want. There are lots of churches in the city - all who believe the same central message that God loves you and wants to be involved in your life.

Here are a number of churches who have signed up for Try Church Sunday, where you’re assured of a warm and fuss-free welcome. You can see where they all are on this map here (opens a new window).
